According to WHO, exclusive breastfeeding is defined as the practice of feeding only breast milk (including expressed breast milk) and no other liquids or solids with the exception of drops or syrups consisting of vitamins, mineral supplements or medicine, breastfeeding renders many health and developmental advantages through promoting and protecting maternal and child health, optimal breastfeeding is one of the most effective preventive health measures against diarrheal diseases and child mortality. Studies indicate that breast milk protects infants from infectious and chronic diseases.
