Health promotion approach in teaching Brazilian nursing: Need for Teacher Training?

Integrative literature review, with LILACS databases being the source of data, MEDLINE, BDENF and SciELO electronic library, with the objective of investigate the scientific production published since 2001, on the approach of PS as an inherent element in the training of nursing teachers College students. A total of 2,815 articles were found. Met the criteria inclusion 38 and nine were analyzed. The quality of evidence from studies was classified at level 4. The discussion of the PS theme in the formation of nursing professors is little explored scientifically, being still understood as synonymous with health education and prevention of illnesses. The concepts and teaching practices that involve PS by nursing professors are multifaceted, under construction, and need be understood under contemporary theoretical conceptions.
